Despite the ongoing war in Syria, the country’s tourism industry is slowly returning to its former glory. It’s also possible to book a trip to the country through the Netherlands. CultureRoad, a travel agency based in Utrecht, is the first Dutch organization to offer trips to Syria since the civil war began. According to owner, Rik Brinks, parts of the country are safe to visit. He also works with experienced guides who can show tourists around the areas that are relatively safe.
